Drivers using KY 451 (East Main Street/Christopher Road) through the Lothair section of Hazard should expect significant delays on Monday, Nov. 17. Two beams for the new KY 451 Glomawr bridge are scheduled to be delivered and put in place on the supports for the new bridge that day. The trucks delivering the beams will have to drive in reverse for 3.3 miles from downtown Hazard to the site of the new bridge. That process is estimated to take approximately 90 minutes. Once the beams are delivered, there will be additional delays at the bridge site while the beams are set. Two more beams are scheduled for delivery and placement on Tuesday, Nov. 18, and this process will be repeated.
Times for these deliveries have not yet been determined. Message boards will be used to provide this information to drivers when the times are scheduled. More detailed information will be provided to the public next week when more is known about the timing of the bridge beam deliveries.
