UK Football – Cats Win in Home Opener

The Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) opened their 2017 home stand by hosting the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels (0-1).  Despite the two campuses being only 30 minutes away, this is only the fifth time the two teams have faced off.  Kentucky led the series 4-0 coming into today after a thrilling overtime come from behind win two years ago here in Lexington.  This was the inaugural game at the newly named Kroger Field.  Continue reading UK Football – Cats Win in Home Opener

Defense is Key in Kentucky’s 71-60 SEC Tournament Win

A Big Blue packed house at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee witnessed the Kentucky Wildcats put down the Georgia Bulldogs for a third time this season.  The 71-60 win was a good start for Kentucky in this 2017 SEC tournament.  The Wildcats had steady play from two of their three-backcourt players.  Both Isaiah Briscoe and DeAron Fox each had 20 points to lead the Cats, while the third member Malik Monk struggled for the second game in a row.  Monk had scored in double figures in 29 straight games, before he failed to reach the double-digit mark in the last two.  Despite Monk’s struggles, the Wildcats still were able to take home the victory. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – After leading the Southeastern Conference in scoring throughout the regular season, Kentucky guard Malik Monk was honored as the Freshman of the Year by the league’s coaches on Tuesday to highlight the annual SEC honors for the Wildcats. 14th Region Finals has no surprises

Tonight’s 14th Region High School Basketball action at Breathitt County High School consisted of two quality games.  The first contest was the Letcher County Central Cougars taking on the Perry Central Commodores.  This game was an amazing battle between two of the top teams in the 14th Region.  The Perry  County Central Commodores edged out the Letcher County Central Cougars 57-50.  Continue reading 14th Region Finals has no surprises

Wolfe County High School Archery Wins Championship

Congratulations to the Wolfe County High School Archery Team on winning the KHSAA Region 10 Championship on Saturday.  WCHS Junior Cody Rose was also the Individual Regional Champion.  The team will now move on to the KHSAA State Tournament in April at the KBA in Lexington.  The team and Cody both will enter that event as legitimate contenders for state titles. Kentucky draws the top seed and will play Friday in Nashville at 1 p.m. ET
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kentucky men’s basketball team will be the No. 1 seed in the annual Southeastern Conference Tournament when action begins Wednesday in Nashville, Tennessee. The Wildcats, who earned the coveted double bye, will play the winner of the Tennessee-Georgia game on Friday in Nashville, Tenn., at 1 p.m. ET in the quarterfinals. Kentucky Rallies for a Comeback On Senior Night

Senior Night at the University of Kentucky  is a special night marking the end of the regular season home games for the Kentucky Wildcats.  The University of Kentucky faced off against the Vanderbilt Commodores.  Three seniors have played their final home game, Derrick Willis, Dominique Hawkins and two-year reserve player Michael Mulder.  Hawkins and Willis have had outstanding careers with each player being part of 2 back to back Final Four teams, with 1 appearance in the in the 2014 NCAA Championship. College Basketball – UK Men’s Basketball Ranked No. 2 in Preseason AP Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Despite losing 85.9 percent of its scoring production from a season ago, 77.3 percent of its rebounding and seven players to the NBA, the Kentucky men’s basketball team is ranked No. 2 in the Associated Press Top 25 to begin the 2015-16 season.
