SUPER “7” Week of Nov. 4th 2016

The Russell Athletic/KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl is underway and every team has dreams of making the Finals in each Class.  Along the way there will be upsets but generally the top teams will make it to the final group of teams vying for a State Championship. Paintsville holds on to #1 by remaining undefeated. Hazard is making their usual strong push.

Class 2A SUPER “7”

Mayfield, and Lexington Christian remain undefeated. Leslie, Owensboro and Danville are right behind them. Danville is still in the mix. Christian Academy of Louisville and DeSales continue to make noise as the tournament progresses.

Class 3A SUPER “7”

Belfry and Corbin continue to be the favorites. Belfry made a clear statement with their road win over Johnson Central last week and then opened the Tournament with a 50-0 win over Bath County . Estill County continues to impress with their strong ground game and good defense.

Class 4A SUPER “7”

Franklin-Simpson remains the only undefeated team in 4A but Johnson Central still looks like they will be giving Franklin-Simpson a run for their money. Shelby, Rockcastle and Hopkinsville continue to stay among the leaders with just 1 loss.

Class 5A SUPER “7”

Bowling Green still remains the leader of 5A and looks like they are going to have to really have a horrible game in order for someone to knock them off. South Oldham is having a good season and keeping their hopes alive with a convincing win over Woodford County.

Class 6A SUPER “7”

Trinity is looking like a team that has hit their Tournament stride. They have 4 straight shutouts and look to be serious contender to the 6A title. Ryle is the only other 6A team without a blemish on their record. This is the time of the year where most serious contenders hit their stride.
