Traffic to be reduced to one 13-foot lane and controlled by temporary signals
Repairs to the span carrying the Hal Rogers Parkway across KY 80, the North Fork of the Kentucky River and the CSX Transportation railroad tracks at milepoint 57.243, just east of Exit 56, will start on Monday, Nov. 10. Temporary signals will control traffic at the bridge. These temporary signals will be in place for approximately 30 days as work on a bridge deck overlay project proceeds. In addition, barrier walls will be placed on the bridge, resulting in one-lane traffic.
During the work, the bridge will be restricted to vehicles less than 13 feet wide. Vehicles wider than 13 feet will need to find an alternate route around the work zone. KY 80 (Combs Road) and KY 15 is the recommended wide load detour.
Drivers should slow down as they approach this construction zone, watch for stopped traffic and obey the temporary traffic signal. Motorists should always be aware of workers, traffic control devices and construction equipment when traveling in this and any other areas where projects are ongoing.
