Ohio News – Unsolved Fatal Hit-Skip Crash on IR 70 in Madison County

WEST JEFFERSON – The West Jefferson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on IR 70 at milepost 79 in Madison County.

Ohio MediaDouglas Griffin, age 29, of Cleves, Ohio, was operating a White Volvo Semi eastbound on IR 70 when he became disabled on the berm. While working outside of the truck with another driver who arrived to assist, Mr. Griffin was struck by an unknown eastbound vehicle. Mr. Griffin was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Madison County Coroner. The second driver who arrived to assist was identified as Michael West, age 30 of Cincinnati. West was also outside of his vehicle at the time of the crash. He received serious injuries and was transported to Grant Hospital by Madison County EMS.

All lanes of IR 70 are now open. The crash remains under investigation.
