University of Louisville men’s basketball coach Rick Pitino will not participate in the 2015 ACC Operation Basketball, a full day of media availability on Oct. 28 for the conference’s men’s basketball coaches and student-athletes in Charlotte, N.C. He has been advised not to participate on the advice of counsel. The Cardinals will be represented at the event by fifth-year guards Damion Lee and Trey Lewis, a pair of graduate transfer students who are team captains along with junior Mangok Mathiang.
“I do not want the allegations we are facing to negatively impact the other 14 institutions on what should be a great event to talk about the approaching basketball season,” said Pitino. “I realize that while many would like to question me on the allegations, the NCAA does not permit me to speak on the subject.”
