Loyola continues it’s magical run with classic win over Nevada

Loyola defeats Nevada 69-68

Loyola has taken each challenge and pushed them aside. First it was Miami and Loyola eeked out a 64-62 win. Then it was on to Tennessee and again Loyola defeated the Volunteers by the narrowest of margins, 63-62.

Loyola with the spiritual guidance of 98 year old Sister Jean, rolled into Atlanta for a Sweet Sixteen match-up with Nevada with the winner to face the Wildcats. Their next opponent would either be the red hot Kentucky Wildcats or the Kansas State Wildcats.

Loyola would fall behind early before regrouping and taking a 4 point lead into the half. The second half opened with Loyola pouring it on with a double digit lead. Then it looked like Nevada, as they did against Cincinnati, would come back for the win. The teams traded baskets down the stretch until Loyola would once again squeeze out a 1 point win, 69-68. Loyola now awaits one of the Wildcats for a chance to go to the Final Four. What a true Cinderella story that would be.
