(Ned, KY) – A Monday afternoon collision in Breathitt County claimed the life of a Jackson man. Troopers with
Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard responded to a reported two vehicle crash on Highway 15 South in the Ned community shortly after 3:30 p.m., on April 20th. Assisting at the scene were officers with KSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, McIntosh Ambulance, and Jackson Fire and Rescue. The crash involved a tractor trailer unit and a passenger car.
Upon arrival, investigating officers discovered that a 1990 Toyota Camry had been traveling north on Highway 15, when the car struck the trailer of a 2007 International commercial vehicle, which was stopped in traffic for a school bus that was unloading students. The operator of the Camry, 54 year old Billy Spicer of Jackson, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Breathitt County Coroner George Griffith. Ance Wagers, the operator of the tractor trailer, was not injured.
Impaired driving is not suspected as a contributing factor in this collision, though toxicology results are pending on both drivers. No autopsy will be performed. The investigation of this collision is being conducted by Trooper David Hobbs with KSP Post 13.
