Kentucky News: KSP Investigating Fatal Collision in Leslie County

PoliceCar(Thousandsticks, KY) – Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last Friday, October 2, on the Hal Rogers Parkway in the Thousandsticks community of Leslie County.  The crash involved two vehicles and resulted in the death of a Knott County man.

Troopers with KSP Post 13 along with members from Leslie County Sheriff’s Department, Trans Star Ambulance, Thousandsticks Fire Department, and Hyden Fire Department responded to the scene.  It was determined that a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Pamela Brock of Hyden, was traveling west on the Hal Rogers Parkway, when the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane and collided with a 2008 Toyota Tacoma which was driven by 44 year old Jimmy Hicks of Emmalena, KY.  Jimmy Hicks was pronounced deceased at the scene by Leslie County Deputy Coroner Craig Morgan.  A passenger in the Toyota, 39 year old Chet Hicks of Hindman, was transported and admitted to Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries received in this collision.  Pamela Brock was transported to Mary Breckinridge Hospital in Hyden.

Seat belts were in use by all individuals involved in this collision. Standard to a fatal collision investigation, toxicology samples were obtained on the drivers, and results are pending.  This incident remains under investigation by Tpr. David Hobbs with KSP Post 13.
