For the second time in last couple months, the Shell Mart in Jackson, KY was robbed. This mornings robbery appears to have been an inside job. Jackson Police were again called to Shell Mart in reference to a robbery. Police were able to make quick arrests following the Sunday morning robbery. According to a published report, the clerk initially told police that he was taking out the trash when he was jumped by three men who robbed the store. Police found during their investigation, that the store safe had been opened using the combination and not opened by force.
During the course of interviewing
witnesses, one suspect, William Combs, 21, admitted to police that he and two other suspects had committed the robbery. A security guard working at the park behind Shell Mart, located 20 year old Trevor Hays, and a juvenile. Both were carrying backpacks full of merchandise and cash believed to be from Shell Mart. Both were taken into custody. It was later learned that Hays was also an employee at Shell Mart.
Both Hays and Combs were arrested and charged with Robbery 1st Degree. The juvenile was taken to the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center. Midwest News and Sports will have more on this robbery as information becomes available.
