Kentucky News – Hazard Police Department Make Arrest

Officers with the Hazard Police Department have made an arrest following the investigation of two armed robberies which occurred shortly after midnight this morning in Hazard. The first robbery occurred at the Apple Market gas station on Morton Boulevard. Moments later, another armed robbery was reported at the Exxon Double Quick on HWY 15. Officers located the suspect operating a black car near the Hazard Appalachian Regional Hospital. The suspect then lead officers on a pursuit which later ended near Little Bear Lane on Highway 80 near the Perry/Knott County line.

The suspect, 20 year old Derek Ryan Moore, was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Fleeing or Evading Police 1st Degree, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, and Theft of a Motor Vehicle Registration Plate. He was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
