As Fall weather approaches, High School Football is getting more and more exciting. It has been especially exciting for the Perry Central Commodores and Coach Tom Larkey. Perry has started out the season with 3 straight wins going in to last night’s contest with Clay County. Coach Larkey was looking for prestigious win number 300. In BSN’s game of the week, Larkey would get his 300th win and Perry Central would run their record to 4-0 with a 35-12 win over Clay County.
In other action from week 4 saw the Hazard Bulldogs (2-1) fall at home to Somerset 20-9. Scott County fell to Ohio power Moeller 38-28. Corbin (3-1) suffered their first loss to 1A Champions Beechwood 36-29. Belfrey (2-1) knocked off Newport Central Catholic 54-29. Jenkins (0-4) remained winless after losing to East Ridge 47-16. Estill (1-2) got their first win by beating Boyd 35-12. New school Floyd Central (4-0) rolled over Lynn Camp 43-14 while State Champion Johnson Central (3-0) eased by South Charleston WV 41-28. Knott Central (3-1) got back on the winning track with a 42-22 win over Shelby Valley. Powell County (0-4) continued their struggles with a 57-34 loss to Lawrence. Magoffin (2-2) got back to .500 with an 18-16 nailbiter over Betsy Layne. Morgan (1-2) got dismantled 67-14 by Mason. Paintsville (3-1) shut out Pikeville 28-0. Breathitt County (0-4) struggles continued after traveling to Prestonsburg and were defeated 60-26. Leslie Co. (1-3) also continued to struggle falling to South Laurel 34-12. Williamsburg (3-1) rolled past Frankfort 52-32 and Letcher Central (0-4) failed to win again losing to Union VA 55-27.
