The Boys High School Baseball State Tournament is underway and the 14th Region Representative got off to a good start. The Hazard Bulldogs defeated the Corbin Redhounds 5-1 behind the outstanding pitching of Devin Morris. Morris pitched 7 innings and 16 strikeouts, which is the 5th highest total in Tournament history.
The Tournament opened with Greenup County easing by Muhlenberg County 10-0. Greenup moves on to play Hazard who defeated Corbin 5-1. In game 3, St. Xavier defeated PRP 13-7. In the final game Thursday, Boyle defeated LaRue County in 5 innings 10-0.
In the opening game Friday, Highlands defeated South Oldham 4-2. Scores from other Friday games are still pending.
In the Hazard win, Catcher Dalton Baker led the offensive attack going 3 for 3. Kyle Johnson, Trajon Campbell, Bailey Blair, Devin Morris, & Andy Baker each had a hit. Hazard will play Saturday against Greenup County.
