College Soccer – DAYTON MEN’S SOCCER BATTLES TO DRAW AT FORDHAM

Dayton FlyersBRONX, N.Y. – The University of Dayton men’s soccer team picked up an important point on the road Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Fordham.

The Flyers (10-4-3, 5-0-2 A-10) have already clinched a spot in the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship tournament in two weeks while Fordham (6-6-4, 4-2-1 A-10) will need at least a point in its final game next week to make the postseason.

KEY STATS

Dayton out-shot Fordham 25-6 in regulation and put eight on target compared to the Rams’ two.

The Flyers benefited from a 4-2 corner kick advantage.

Senior Maik Schoonderwoerd led the team with eight shots while fellow senior Amass Amankona and junior James Haupt had five shots each.

Junior goalkeeper Justin Saliba had one save on two shots on target faced.

UD remains unbeaten in A-10 play with 17 out of 21 possible points.
