Louisville used hot shooting to easily manhandle St. Francis Brooklyn 85 – 41 to improve to 4 – 0. The early season schedule has not been very difficult for the unranked Cardinals, however, they are doing exactly what they are supposed to do to inferior competition by winning handily.
The Cardinals shot over 50 percent from the field for the fourth straight game finishing at 53.8 percent. Damion Lee led U of L with 21 points on 8 of 12 shooting. He not only scored the ball, but also finished with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Raymond Spalding and Donovan Mitchell showed why the future is bright for the Cardinals. Spalding, coming off an 18 point and 12 rebound effort, finished with 12 points. Mitchell finished with 11 points and 6 rebounds.
Size, once again was a huge difference for the Cardinals. They were bigger than St. Francis at nearly every possession. U of L dominated the boards by a 51 – 24 margin. Chinanu Onuaku continues to impress in all phases of the game. He finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and 8 points.
Defensively the Cardinals held the Terriers to 29.8 percent from the field. Tyreek Jewell and Glenn Sanabria led the Terriers in scoring with 11 points each.
The Cardinals next game will be Saturday against St. Louis in the Barclays Center in New Jersey. It will be their first game away from the KFC Yum Center.
