In a game that went down to the wire, an overmatched Davidson Wildcat team was defeated by the Kentucky Wildcats by a score of 78 to 73. Kentucky, behind Kevin Knox’s 25 points, led by double digits several times during the course of the game, but turnovers and sloppy play caused the game tighten to as little as three in the waning minutes. In the final two minutes tenacious defense and good free throw shooting sealed the victory. We asked Coach Cal after the game how he’d rate his team’s defensive effort and he responded with good in the first half and not good in the second. Coach Cal seemed surprised to learn that the 3 point shooting streak had ended.
UK will now face Buffalo who upset the Arizona Wildcats. A when here puts UK in Atlanta for a possible matchup with overall #1 Virginia.
