Ty Back – Eight years ago this month, John Calipari left Memphis for the greener pastures of Lexington, KY. While coming to Memphis over the past few years to recruit and visit friends, last night was his first time back on the sidelines in FedExForum (yes it has to be written like that). A night where number two seeded Kentucky took on number three seeded UCLA for a right to move on to the 2017 NCAA South Region Final to take on the North Carolina Tarheels on Sunday. The Kentucky Wildcats won their 5th game in a row Tuesday by beating the Missouri Tigers 72-62 in a close game in Columbia. Lexington, KY – The Kentucky Wildcats put the Tennessee Volunteers away early in a Valentine’s Day matchup in Rupp Arena Tuesday night before a home crowd of 24,391 winning by a final score of 83-58. After losing 3 of their last 4 games, the UK Wildcats defeated LSU 92-85 in Rupp Arena last night. Kentucky improves their record to 19-5 overall and 9-2 in the Southeastern Conference. Kentucky fell to number 15 in this week’s rankings after an embarrassing road loss to Florida Saturday. After two straight losses, the Kentucky Wildcats beat the Georgia Bulldogs Tuesday night 90-81 in an overtime thriller in Rupp Arena. The Cats had never lost three straight under coach John Calipari but the odds were against them before the game even started. On Saturday night in Rupp Arena, UK loses it’s point guard, gets zero points and seven turnovers from Briscoe, Mulder was out due to sickness and the Kentucky Wildcats still defeated the number one defense in the country of the South Carolina Gamecocks 85-69. De’Aaron Fox poured in a career high 27 pts. Saturday night to lead the number six ranked Kentucky Wildcats over the Arkansas Razorbacks. Four other players from Kentucky scored in double digits in what turned out to be a physical night. “De’Aaron Fox is ridiculous,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said. “He’s been doing extra work. Only 9,086 were in attendance last night’s UK MBB game in Oxford, Mississippi for the Southeastern Conference opening game for both teams. The Cats were looking to get back on track after the loss to in state rival Louisville before the Christmas break and came out like the dominant team we saw signs of earlier in the season.
