Knoxville, TN – Coach Calipari and the UK Wildcats took the short trip down I-75 to Knoxville to play a desperate Tennessee team who opened up the SEC 0-2. Kentucky came into the night, carrying a 2 game losing streak at Rocky Top, and only winning one of their last 4. A crowd of 21,678 filed into Thompson-Bolin Arena to watch these two top 20 ranked SEC teams clash.

The much anticipated annual grudge match between the CATS and the CARDS, turned into a rout at Kroger Field this afternoon, as CARDS quarterback Lamar Jackson looked the part of a possible repeat Heisman winner. THE CARDS hammered the CATS 44 to 17 in a game that was not effectively that close. THE CATS knew coming in that they would have to try to slow down Jackson the powerful CARD offense, but the game plan simply did not work. Earlier this season Ole Miss lost it’s starting quarterback to injury and coming into the game, had the worst rushing defense in the SEC, both of which Kentucky fans had hoped would play to the favor of their beloved Wildcats. Too many times had the final score of this border rivalry been in favor of Tennessee. The Cats came into tonight looking to start a winning streak of their own and if they were going to do that, tonight as the night. Earlier in the week, Tennessee’s starting RB was suspended after a drug possession charge and just last night their backup QB was released from the team. Kentucky went from an underdog to a 3 point favorite before the game started. Continue reading “A Thing of Beauty”
