Forty-three seconds…Forty-three seconds from ending 30 years’ worth of agony and defeat.  Forty-three seconds from ending the longest current losing streak of one team losing to another in NCAA Football.  Forty-three seconds is all UK had to hang on to put the Gators away tonight, but with only forty-three seconds to go, the Cats gave up a heartbreaking touchdown to Gators, giving Florida the first lead of the game by one point, 28-27 after overcoming a 13 point 4th quarter deficit.  Continue reading UK Football – Kroger Field Heartbreak

Ty Back – Columbia, SC
Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats traveled to Columbia South Carolina Saturday to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in a packed, blackout at Williams-Brice Stadium.  This would be Kentucky’s first game of SEC game of the year in one of the tougher stadiums in the SEC but UK proved up to the test.  After two sub-par games to start the year, the UK fan base was a little uneasy going into Saturday.  Questions about play calling were heard everywhere.  Questions like, “Is Gran going to continue to run the Wildcat?”, “Will Lynn Bowden live up to the hype?”, “Can UK compete with the tough opponents of the SEC?” Continue reading UK football 3-0; First Time Since 2010

The Kentucky Wildcats (1-0) opened their 2017 home stand by hosting the Eastern Kentucky University Colonels (0-1).  Despite the two campuses being only 30 minutes away, this is only the fifth time the two teams have faced off.  Kentucky led the series 4-0 coming into today after a thrilling overtime come from behind win two years ago here in Lexington.  This was the inaugural game at the newly named Kroger Field.  Continue reading UK Football – Cats Win in Home Opener

Coming off of their first Bowl appearance since 2011, the Kentucky Wildcats began fall practice on Sunday.  With a change in NCAA rules, practice got started this year, one week early, but two-a-day practices are no longer allowed.  It’s safe to say there’s more excitement throughout Kentucky for the upcoming season, than there has been in years.  Coming into his 5th season as the UK Coach, Mark Stoops said on Sunday, “We’re going into year five.  We ought to be better in all areas.”   Continue reading 2017 UK Football Offensive Preview

March 26, 2017 – Ty Back – Memphis, TN

The Kentucky Wildcats season ended Sunday night at the hands of the North Carolina Tarheels. Carolina led for all but 3:57 of the game but in the last 50 seconds, Kentucky erased a 7 point deficit to tie the game at 73 with only nine seconds to play.  Malik Monk rose up from the top of the key, with two defenders in his face, to drill an off balance three to tie the game.

Ty Back – Eight years ago this month, John Calipari left Memphis for the greener pastures of Lexington, KY.  While coming to Memphis over the past few years to recruit and visit friends, last night was his first time back on the sidelines in FedExForum (yes it has to be written like that).  A night where number two seeded Kentucky took on number three seeded UCLA for a right to move on to the 2017 NCAA South Region Final to take on the North Carolina Tarheels on Sunday.
