Breaking News !! High School Season Winding Down.

The 2017/2018 HS Basketball season is winding down and so far has had it’s share of surprises and upsets. In the 14th Region Boys, The usual leaders have their place at the top of the standings with Knott Central at 16-4 which includes a 10-0 Region Record. Knott, as of today, is in the Final Four of the ALL A Tournament. Perry Central is a close second at 13-5. On the bottom end of the standings is the Lee County Bobcats who have suffered with a 0 -20 season.

Lexington, KY, The University of Kentucky continued SEC play with another Home game hosting the Mississippi State University Bulldogs.  Kentucky is currently on a two- game losing streak and in a dire need of a victory to not only give the team some much needed confidence, but also improve in SEC standings.  Kentucky Currently has a 14-5 record on the season and is tied for fourth place in SEC standings tied with the Tennessee Volunteers. UK Wildcats – Get the forks out these Cats are done …. or are they??

Can you believe it? The UK Wildcats have 5 losses and are not ranked in the AP Poll for the first time since 2014. It is clearly time to throw in the towel and look towards next season ……… or is it?

Here is a break down of this years roster:
8 Freshman, 4 Sophomores, 2 Juniors, and no seniors. How does this compare to the rest of Coach Cal’s other Wildcat teams? Much to do has been done over the youth of this team but remarkably, this is not the most Freshman’s on a Kentucky Wildcat team under Coach Cal. Rupp Arena- The University of Kentucky and the Florida Gators took the court for tonight’s game.  The game is a battle of SEC EAST opponents and has become one of the better rivalries in all the country.  The game is featured as the ESPN College Game Day, Game of the Week.  The College Game Day Crew consisting of Analysts, Jay Williams, Jay Bilas, Seth Greenberg and is hosted by Reece Davis.  Davis also hosts ESPN’s College Football Gameday.  The game is Broadcasted by Jay Bilas and Dan Shulman, two of the great broadcasters in the sport. Heading into this past week in the SEC several questions had been raised regarding some of the teams, yet in typical SEC basketball fever mayhem happened throughout the week and into the weekend to cause yet another rift in the SEC basketball rankings. College Game Day makes 2018 debut at Rupp Arena

Lexington, KY – ESPN’s College Game Day crew was in town covering College Game Day.  Today’s game features the University of Kentucky Wildcats hosting the Florida Gators in a prime time game at 8:15 pm. The game is considered the premier Basketball game of the day, and will draw a lot of national media attention. Game day is hosted by ESPN analysts Seth Greenberg, Jay Williams, Jay Bilas and Host Reece Davis.   Game day originated in 2005 and Rupp Arena has been featured as the host location seven different times during the course of the event.

Nashville: The young Wildcats hold off a feisty veteran Commodore squad on the road. The Cats, who have lacked an identity all year, might have just found their groove with a massive road win in a very hostile environment at Vanderbilt. Still many questions remain for the young Wildcats, especially considering Jarred Vanderbilt’s return. Cal, when asked about the timetable for his first appearance this year, answered abruptly, “I didn’t know if Jarred was going to play before the game, I’m just acting like he’s not here and if he is, he is. College Basketball – Cats Squeeze by the Aggies in a Referee Controlled Game

The Texas A&M Aggies came to Rupp Arena looking to break a three-game losing streak to the Kentucky Wildcats. The Cats/Aggies matchup has become one of the most competitive matchups in the league. Four of the last seven games between the two teams have went into overtime. Texas A&M have struggled as of late opening the SEC season 0-3 but they haven’t had their full team on the court for some time. When asked which A&M to prepare for, Kentucky Assistant Joel Justus stated “ I think you have to prepare for all of them.” Tonight the Wildcats often looked unprepared but were still able to pull out the win. Kentucky falls to the Vols in Rocky Top by Ty Back 1-6-18

UK falls at Tennessee ….. Again

Knoxville, TN – Coach Calipari and the UK Wildcats took the short trip down I-75 to Knoxville to play a desperate Tennessee team who opened up the SEC 0-2.  Kentucky came into the night, carrying a 2 game losing streak at Rocky Top, and only winning one of their last 4.  A crowd of 21,678 filed into Thompson-Bolin Arena to watch these two top 20 ranked SEC teams clash.
