Week 6 is in the books and it was full of surprises. To start the excitement off Breathitt County (1-5) was off to a horrible start this season as they traveled to Knott Central (3-2) who was having a great season. Breathitt won 50-43 and showed why you play the games and don’t just go by season play thus far. Floyd Central (4-2) was surprised at home by Pike Central 35-34. Bluegrass Sports Nation game of the week: Week five of KHSAA Football. Leslie County Eagles vs. Breathitt County Bobcats.
This week’s Bluegrass Sports Nation game of the week featured two teams that once dominated the gridiron, but have struggled recently. Leslie County entered tonight’s matchup with a one win and three loss campaign. Leslie County opened the season with an impressive victory over Pineville with 47-22 victory. Week 5 of High School Football saw a couple surprises with Floyd (4-1) falling at home to Prestonsburg (2-2) by the score of 42-22. Bell County (3-1) also took their first loss on the road at Whitley County 28-6. In other action in the BSN coverage area, Estill (1-3) continued to struggle losing a tight contest 32-30 at home to Bath County. Belfry (3-1) continued their surge with a 56-13 drilling of Pikeville. Magoffin (2-3) was dismantled by Harlan 44-12. Johnson Central (4-0) continued their run for another State Championship by hammering Moore 42-8. Jenkins (0-5) fell to Lynn Camp 47-8. Middlesboro (2-3) beat Pineville (2-3) 46-20. Paintsville (4-1) rolled against Williamsburg (3-2) 53-21. Letcher Central (0-5) is still looking for the win column after dropping their home game to Pike Central 35-28. Morgan County (1-3) put up 36 points but still lost to Shelby Valley 55-36.

Bluegrass Sports Nation game of the week: Week 4 of KHSAA Football season Clay County @ Perry County Central.
This weeks Bluegrass Sports Nation game of the week featured the Clay County Tigers taking on the home team Perry County Central Commodores. Clay County entered the matchup with a one win and two loss record. Last week against Middlesboro High School the Tigers won a thrilling overtime game 30- 29, giving the Tigers momentum heading into tonight’s matchup.

Week #3 of the KHSAA High School football occurred this past weekend. Bluegrass Sports Nation has chosen a game of the week with Perry Central battling Knott Central, in which we offer complete media coverage of the action on the field. The coverage includes pre- game interviews with the coaches from each school, videos of each team entering the field, progress via social media during games, quarterly updates, excellent photography work from Brendon Miller, and an article detailing the game action. The Hazard Bulldogs opened the season at home against class 5A Harlan County Black Bears. The game is featured as the Bluegrass Sports Nation game of the week. Hazard finished as Class A Runner up in the 2016 season with a 12 and 3 record, Harlan County is coming off a 4 and 7 season where they were defeated in the first round of the playofffs by Pulaski County. Although this was Hazard’s first game of the season, Harlan County entered the game with one game under its belt defeating the Ashland Blazers in the opening weekend of high school football.
The race to the chase continued today at Kentucky Motor Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky. The seventh annual Quaker State 400 was held today, bringing in large crowds and some of the best drivers in modern day racing. The race marked driver Dale Earnhardt JR. last time driving in Kentucky as it was announced earlier in the year that he was retiring from competitive racing at the end of the racing season.

The smell of burnt tires, racing fuel and engines tuned to the max while blazing through the one and a half mile track creates a great weekend that is attended annually by thousands of spectators from across the country.

NASCAR returns to Bristol for the annual Spring race. The Xfinity Series of NASCAR was held today at the Bristol Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee. Bluegrass Sports Nation was there in attendance to cover the race. Bluegrass Sports Nation continues to strive to cover all sports and provide the public with excellence in sports coverage. The race was attended by 2 members of the Bluegrass Sports Nation Coverage team. Larry Robinson and myself David Leveridge were both in attendance covering the race. The Documentary is called ONE AND NOT DONE, and will be aired for the public to view on ESPN Thursday April, 13, 2017.
