As the preseason Basketball concludes the Kentucky Wildcats had one preseason opponent remaining.  The Opponent is the IUP Indiana University of Pennsylvania a division two school from a small town located in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Kentucky is a favorite to win the game and the final tune up before the season begins next Tuesday as Kentucky competes in the Champions Classic against the Duke Blue devils.   UK and IUP has never meet on the Basketball court, and UK is heavily favored against the Crimson Hawks.  Continue reading College Basketball – KENTUCKY’S FINAL TUNE UP OF THE PRESASON DEFEATS IUP CRIMSON HAWKS 86-64

College Basketball – KENTUCKY WINS THE BATTLE OF BROADWAY: KENTUCKY 94 – 66 TRANSYLVANIA

In the opening exhibition of the 2018-2019 season Kentucky battled the Transylvania Pioneers in the battle of Broadway.  Transylvania campus located in the same city of Lexington, KY just a couple of blocks up from Rupp Arena.  Surprisingly the series is tied at seven with Transy being 0-3 in exhibition games against the CATS. For a historic team such as the Kentucky Wildcats this is an interesting stat I came upon.  The Series originates over 115 years ago with 3 games taking place in 1903 season, Transy won the first meeting 42-2 over Kentucky.  Long before Coach Adolph Rupp built the CATS into a dynasty and help pave the way making Kentucky into the Winningest program in College Basketball history, UK and Transylvania was a rivalry.  Continue reading College Basketball – KENTUCKY WINS THE BATTLE OF BROADWAY: KENTUCKY 94 – 66 TRANSYLVANIA

54 th District Boys- Perry County Central defeats Leslie County 72-58. Perry Central advances to the Championship game of the 54 th District. / David Leveridge- Bluegrass Sports Nation- High School Basketball / February 20, 2018 Hazard’s Memorial Gym

Hazard, KY- In the opening game of the Boys 54 th District Defending 14 th Region Champion the Perry County Central Commodores begins their quest on defending the Region Title against The Leslie County Eagles from Hyden, Kentucky. The game tonight is the third time all season the two teams has took the court against each other. Perry Central has been victorious both times. Game 1 Recap Estill County falls to Corbin in the school’s first ever trip to the Sweet 16.

Estill County dream season of playing in the Boys State Tournament become a reality today as the Engineers took the court of Rupp Arena for the first time in school history.  Estill is representing the 14th Region as the Region Champion.  Covering the Engineers throughout the post season, I am well aware how much the basketball team means to the residents of Estill County.   Continue reading KHSAA 2018 Boys Sweet 16 session one recap.
