October 7, 2018 – Cincinnati, Ohio – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation

It wasn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination, in fact, the Dolphins controlled the game for two and a half quarters.  That’s why they play four quarters.  That’s why you play until the final whistle. With 9:25 left in the 3rd quarter, the Miami Dolphins were up 17-0, but the Bengals stormed back to take the win, 27-17. October 5, 2018 – West Liberty, Kentucky – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist

Breathitt made the short trip to West Liberty, Kentucky for a district showdown with the Morgan County Cougars.  With huge district implications on the line, this one was sure to be a real “Cat” fight. Morgan County came in 1-1 in District competition, and with a win, and winning out, they very well could have won the district title.  Breathitt on the other hand, held a 2-0 record in district competition and with a win would hold their own destiny in their hands. If you didn’t have anything to do Friday night and happened by W.C. Hambley Athletic Complex on Pikeville High School’s campus to watch a football game, you were treated to one of the best examples of an old fashion, hard hitting, rivalry game. A game that had a back an forth scoring battle, back and forth coaching adjustments, and even a little controversy and was well worth the price of admission. September 27, 2018 – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist

Breathitt may be half way through their regular season schedule, but they are just now entering week two of district play.  In the Bobcat’s first district showdown, they came out a little flat and allowed Knott County Central to hang tough going into halftime with a 14-0 lead.  Breathitt did get things going offensively in the second half and the final score was 30-0.  Tyson Gross came up huge for the Bobcats rushing for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns on 23 carries.  Breathitt’s offense ran all over the Patriots as they rushed for 329 yards on 42 attempts.  The Bobcats starting quarterback, Braxton O’Hara was unable to pay with a concussion, so Coach Kyle Moore turned to Donavan Turner for relief through the air.  Turner went for 42 yards on 4-9 passing, and through a touchdown pass as well. September 21, 2018 – Jackson, Kentucky – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist

The Pre-District portion of the Breathitt schedule this year was tough.  To begin the season, the Bobcats dropped their first three games, but just as a boxer has to do, the Bobcats kept coming.  The Bobcats have taken the opposing teams’ best punch and have stood their ground.  Week after week, Breathitt continues to improve.  Winners of their last three games the Bobcats are now becoming a team that very few will want to play. Breathitt is coming off an impressive come from behind victory over the Leslie County Eagles.  Leslie jumped out on the Bobcats 12-0 to start the second half.  Many teams would have folded up their tent and went home, but the Breathitt Bobcats did the exact opposite.  They thrived in the situation, leaning on each other and showing what kind of character they have by fighting their way to a 22-19 victory. 1A Hazard (2-1) plays at home and tries to get back on track after a tough loss to Somerset. The Bulldogs host 2A Prestonsburg (0-4). Prestonsburg has not had the start new Head Coach Brandon Brewer wanted and this matchup with Hazard will not help things.
