September 21, 2018 – Jackson, Kentucky – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist

The Pre-District portion of the Breathitt schedule this year was tough.  To begin the season, the Bobcats dropped their first three games, but just as a boxer has to do, the Bobcats kept coming.  The Bobcats have taken the opposing teams’ best punch and have stood their ground.  Week after week, Breathitt continues to improve.  Winners of their last three games the Bobcats are now becoming a team that very few will want to play. Breathitt is coming off an impressive come from behind victory over the Leslie County Eagles.  Leslie jumped out on the Bobcats 12-0 to start the second half.  Many teams would have folded up their tent and went home, but the Breathitt Bobcats did the exact opposite.  They thrived in the situation, leaning on each other and showing what kind of character they have by fighting their way to a 22-19 victory. September 13, 2018 – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist

The Breathitt County Bobcats come into this week’s matchup with the Leslie County Eagles having flipped the script on their 2018 season.  Coming off their first win, the Bobcats seem to now have momentum on their side.  With each passing week, the Bobcats have steadily improved on both sides of the ball.  Breathitt’s ability to both throw the ball, as well as run the rock, has developed the Bobcats into one the region’s most explosive offenses. 0-3 ….. That is what the Bobcats  were coming into last night’s game. Most teams would be ready to throw the towel in and give up. Not these Bobcats. September 6, 2018 – CASEY ALLEN – Bluegrass Sports Nation Breathitt Football Columnist
When you think of Eastern Kentucky high school football two schools are usually in everyone’s conversation.  The Breathitt County Bobcats and the Prestonsburg Blackcats are both prestigious football programs located just 45 minutes apart.  In the early 2000’s you could not go to a KHSAA State Championship game unless you went through both schools.  The teams have met several times in the playoffs, resulting in one of the fiercest rivalries in Eastern Kentucky.  Since KHSAA re-classification a decade ago, the programs have been in separate classes, putting a strain on the rivalry, and will be fully reborn next season when Breathitt moves down to 2A and the schools will be District Rivals once more!        “Touchdown” Terry Wilson has been the talk of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. Just a sophomore, was given the reigns of the Wildcats Offense. After less than a half of play, Terry Wilson has given Big Blue Nation cause for concern as he hasn’t been very productive. Wilson appeared to get injured and was subbed out after producing 3 turnovers. All 3 turnovers resulted in points for the Central Michgan Chippewas.
