Wolfe County Senior guard Deven Stone set a new Wolfe County High School scoring record in Beattyville on Tuesday night, pouring in 57 points in the Wolves 100-20 victory over Lee County. Stone was 8 for 16 (50%) from three-land, 13 for 15 (86%) inside the arc, and 7 of 8 (88%) from the line. Stone’s 57 broke the prior record of 54 which was jointly held by Gene Neff and Sawyer Denniston. Wolfe is now 1-1 on the season and will next be in action on Saturday night at they travel to Letcher County Central. Congratulations Deven!!!!

The much anticipated annual grudge match between the CATS and the CARDS, turned into a rout at Kroger Field this afternoon, as CARDS quarterback Lamar Jackson looked the part of a possible repeat Heisman winner. THE CARDS hammered the CATS 44 to 17 in a game that was not effectively that close. THE CATS knew coming in that they would have to try to slow down Jackson the powerful CARD offense, but the game plan simply did not work. The Night Cap of the Champions Classic, concluded with another battle of the blue bloods. Kentucky vs Kansas two of the winningest programs in College Basketball history, battled it out in Chicago, Illinois at the United Center the Home of the NBA Chicago Bulls. The game featured two team’s currently undefeated and both Nationally ranked in the top ten. The game could possible be a preview of the NCAA Final 4, and the hype associated with this game draws a lot of National Attention. Gm 2 – UK vs Kansas
In the second game of the Champions Classic #4 Kansas did battle with the winningest program in college history, the Kentucky Wildcats. UK entered the game as the #7 team in the country and was coming off 2 close wins at home. The game opened with Kansas taking seven 3 point attempts in the first 4 minutes for a 13-7 lead. Kansas continued their run pushing out to an 18-7 lead behind their three point shooting. The Jayhawk 11-0 run was stopped by a couple Wildcat free throws by Diallo. Gm 1 – Duke vs Michigan State
The Champions Classic kicked off with a matchup of top rated teams as the Duke Blue Devils clashed with the Tom Izzo coached Michigan State Spartans. Both teams have championship asperations and are loaded with talent. Michigan St. would ease out to a 12-9 lead at the 13:49 mark good defense combined with a shaky start by the Blue Devils. Duke wouldn’t stay down long as they ran off 12 straight points to open a 9 point lead of their own by the score of 21-12 before a Ben Carter layup for Michigan State.
