UK Basketball – Big Blue Madness 2017: The premiere practice for all of College Basketball.

The excitement of Kentucky Basketball debuted tonight Friday, The Thirteenth 2017 @ the Historic Rupp Arena.  Since Kentucky lost in the Elite 8 of the NCAA Basketball tournament in March of this year, this date has been anticipated for a long time.  Big Blue Madness is the official start to the College Basketball season as this is the first time all year the public gets to see UK on the court.  Other schools such as Duke, Kansas, North Carolina all hold similar events, but the hype and anticipation of Big Blue Madness is unique making Kentucky the gold Standard of College Basketball.   Continue reading UK Basketball – Big Blue Madness 2017: The premiere practice for all of College Basketball.

UK Basketball – Another Exciting Big Blue Madness Opens the Basketball Season

Big Blue Madness is the official start of the University of Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball seasons.  The highly awaited event is the first time that the fans get to see the teams in action. Anticipation is particularly high for the men’s basketball team because the new additions to the roster.  Only three players that played any valuable minutes are returning from last year’s team (Gabriel, Killeya-Jones, and Wynyard) and early reports from team practices say that they have improved. With the talented Freshman coming in such as Kevin Knox, Quade Green, and Hamidou Diallo more curiosity is surrounding this team than past teams. LEXINGTON, Ky. – Posters for the 2017-18 Kentucky men’s and women’s basketball teams were unveiled on Tuesday. They will be distributed at Big Blue Madness presented by Papa John’s on Friday and beginning on Saturday morning at Kroger locations throughout the state. LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the 14th straight season, the University of Kentucky women’s basketball team ranked in the top 25 nationally in average attendance, sitting 14th overall with 5,213 fans per home game during the 2016-17 season. Wildcats Finish Season 22-11

 LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fourth-seeded Kentucky rallied from a 19-point second half deficit to within one point of the lead, but the Wildcats could not overcome fifth-seeded Ohio State’s advantage, as the Buckeyes won 82-68 on Sunday afternoon at Memorial Coliseum.

2017 NCAAA Division I Women’s Basketball Basketball Championship – First Round
Kentucky vs. Belmont
March 17, 2017 – Memorial Coliseum – Lexington, Kentucky
 
The Lady Cats came into the first round of the NCAA with a 21-10 season record and the reward of a home court advantage to take on the (27-5) Lady Bruins of Belmont.
After a third straight loss to powerhouse South Carolina, the Cats were ready for redemption. In their sites was breaking Belmont ’s 21-game winning streak. It would prove to be difficult.
