UK pummels Cards – Photo by Larry Robinson

Rivalry games bring a great deal of emotion from both the fans and the players alike.  For fans, it is mostly and intense dislike for the opposing fan base.  They live through the rivalry 365 days a year.  For players, they do not want to lose bragging rights by losing to the rival.  However, most of the players on this year’s Louisville and Kentucky teams did not grow up in the state so they don’t completely understand the intensity of the rivalry. Hot Shooting Propels Louisville Past Memphis – Jason Sheehan

At times this season the Louisville Cardinals’ offense has been quite offensive.  Scoring droughts and shooting slumps have been the norm at times.  However, that was not the case in the Cards matchup Saturday against their old rival Memphis as they beat a scrappy Memphis team 81 – 72 in Madison Square Garden.  The Cards hit 14 – 26 from three point range, by far a season high. Seton Hall Deals Louisville their Second Straight Loss 79 – 77

Desi Rodriguez did everything for the Seton Hall Pirates against the No. 17 Louisville Cardinals Sunday afternoon including the winning basket with eight seconds to play.  After Deng Adel’s jumper tied the game at 77 with 28 seconds to play, Rodriguez drove to the basket for a layup to put the Pirates ahead 79 – 77.  Quentin Snider attempted the game-winning three for the Cards, but missed, sending the Cards to their second consecutive loss. Purdue Deals Louisville their First Loss 66 – 57

Four games and four wins to start the season for the No. 17 Louisville Cardinals, but against inferior competition.  The Cards traveled to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers in their first road game.  They learned just how tough it is to play in a hostile environment especially with some of the signs in the stands that may were not so subtle reminders of the scandals U of L has faced.  I am also pretty sure some things were said that probably were not so nice either. Lamar Jackson couldn’t wait to get back on the field to face Kentucky after last season’s humiliating loss in the regular season finale.  He committed four turnovers in last season’s loss, including a fumble inside the Kentucky ten yard line in the final two minutes.  That fumble led to Kentucky kicking a game-winning field goal to defeat the heavily favored Cardinals. Brendon D. Miller – Kroger Field – Lexington – November 25, 2017

The much anticipated annual grudge match between the CATS and the CARDS, turned into a rout at Kroger Field this afternoon, as CARDS quarterback Lamar Jackson looked the part of a possible repeat Heisman winner.  THE CARDS hammered the CATS 44 to 17 in a game that was not effectively that close.  THE CATS knew coming in that they would have to try to slow down Jackson the powerful CARD offense, but the game plan simply did not work.     Continue reading College Football – CARDS SHOW SUPERIORITY – TAKE BACK GOVERNOR’S CUP
