April of 2009 brought the news that Rick Pitino was the center of an extortion scheme with Karen Sypher and was called on the FBI to investigate the case.  During the trial Pitino testified that he had an extramarital affair with Karen Sypher.  He claimed he only had sex with Sypher once in 2003 and also admitted that he gave Sypher $3,000 to have an abortion.  Sypher was sentenced to 87 months in prison for the extortion scheme.   Continue reading Darkness at the University of Louisville

Uof L football – Tar Heels Can’t Stop Jackson as Cards Roll

“We definitely don’t want it to be the Lamar Jackson show.  So, if he’s able to beat us with his arm, then well, he’s not going to beat us at all.  I’ll take that back.  He’s not going to beat us.  We’re just going to stop anything that he tries to do.”  Those were the words of North Carolina starting linebacker Andre Smith after practice on Wednesday.  Well, it is time to take those words back Mr. Smith. UofL Athletics in 2017-18: We, The Future

Tomorrow never settles for the standards of today.
Last season, the University of Louisville finished 26th nationally in the Learfield Sports Director’s Cup national all-sports standings, its highest ever.  CBS Sports has recognized the UofL Athletics program among the top seven nationally in its annual “Best in College Sports” review in four of the last five years, including a No. 7 ranking in the 2016-17 season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the interest of augmenting existing security measures at football games at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium, University of Louisville Athletics will implement new security measures, including magnetic wanding at all entry gates and restricting the size and type of bag that may be carried into the stadium for home football games and concerts moving forward.
