BREAKING NEWS!!!!! Breathitt High School hires Misty Eversole Mcalarnis to lead Girls Basketball Program

Breathitt High School has a new girls basketball coach after the hiring of Misty Eversole Mcalarnis. Misty will try to turn around a program that saw it fall to it’s lowest point in many years after finishing with a record of 3 wins and 21 losses, 17 of which were to finish the season. David Kyle Abner stepped down after his only season as coach creating the opening for new Coach Mcalarnis.

Breathitt had a 13-15 record in 2016-2017 season including the 55th District Tournament Championship in Coach Wallace Bates final season.

Montana Fouts – Miss Kentucky Softball’s all Everything

East Carter’s Montana Fouts is truly something special. Montana has committed to Alabama to start her college career. Fouts has been nothing short of amazing in garnering several awards to include Miss Kentucky Softball.  Fouts, The Crimson Tide commit, is a two-time Gatorade Player of the Year and ALL-USA selection. High School Baseball Tournament Action (Hazard opens with a win)

The Boys High School Baseball State Tournament is underway and the 14th Region Representative got off to a good start. The Hazard Bulldogs defeated the Corbin Redhounds 5-1 behind the outstanding pitching of Devin Morris. Perry Central Weight Lift Team shows their strength

PCC Weight Lifting Champs

PCC started off their competition with a meet at Raceland Show of Strength at Raceland High. PCC finished second as a team. Devon Hill, Ronnie Collins, Noah Canady, Brandon Fugate, Jacob Brown all won first place in their individual weight classes. Brandon Fugate had the highest total weight lifted in the meet which featured bench press, power cleans, and squats.

54 th District Boys- Perry County Central defeats Leslie County 72-58. Perry Central advances to the Championship game of the 54 th District. / David Leveridge- Bluegrass Sports Nation- High School Basketball / February 20, 2018 Hazard’s Memorial Gym

Hazard, KY- In the opening game of the Boys 54 th District Defending 14 th Region Champion the Perry County Central Commodores begins their quest on defending the Region Title against The Leslie County Eagles from Hyden, Kentucky. The game tonight is the third time all season the two teams has took the court against each other. Perry Central has been victorious both times. March, 14,2018- Rupp Arena, Lexington, KY

Game 1 Recap Estill County falls to Corbin in the school’s first ever trip to the Sweet 16.

Estill County dream season of playing in the Boys State Tournament become a reality today as the Engineers took the court of Rupp Arena for the first time in school history.  Estill is representing the 14th Region as the Region Champion.  Covering the Engineers throughout the post season, I am well aware how much the basketball team means to the residents of Estill County.   Continue reading KHSAA 2018 Boys Sweet 16 session one recap.
