Exclusive from Bluegrass Sports Nation:

Breathitt High School has a new girls basketball coach after the hiring of Misty Eversole Mcalarnis. Misty will try to turn around a program that saw it fall to it’s lowest point in many years after finishing with a record of 3 wins and 21 losses, 17 of which were to finish the season. David Kyle Abner stepped down after his only season as coach creating the opening for new Coach Mcalarnis.

Breathitt had a 13-15 record in 2016-2017 season including the 55th District Tournament Championship in Coach Wallace Bates final season.

Comments from new Breathitt High School Girls Basketball Coach, Misty Eversole Mcalarnis:

“First of all I’m excited to be named head coach of Breathitt County High School girls basketball. I would like to thank the administration, site-base, and Board of Education for giving me this opportunity.

I played high school basketball at M C Napier in Hazard, Ky, and won the KHSAA State Tournament my senior year in 1994. I attended college at Alice Lloyd on a basketball scholarship, played 4 years, and later was inducted into ALC Hall of Fame.

During my years as an assistant I’ve been part of several district, regional, and state tournaments.

I’m ready to meet my team, get organized for the up coming season…”
