Lexington Legends’ starting pitcher Foster Griffin and his teammates wore special jerseys Saturday night to salute 2015 Triple Crown winner American Pharoah.  The jerseys resembled the Zayat Stables silks worn by jockey Victor Espinoza when he rode American Pharoah to victory in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont, as well as the Breeders Cup Classic.  Continue reading Legends’ jerseys salute American Pharoah

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning in a one-run game to power past the No. 11 Kentucky softball team and even the series at a game a piece on Saturday afternoon at Rhoads Stadium in front of a season-high 3,580 fans. UK Baseball Rallies Past Arkansas with 5-4 Walk-Off Win

 LEXINGTON, Ky. – Needing a rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to salvage the series, sophomore catcher Troy Squires laced a single in the right-center field gap, scoring Riley Mahan from second base in a dramatic come-from-behind, 5-4 walk-off win for the Kentucky baseball team on Saturday in the third game of its Southeastern Conference series against Arkansas. The University of Louisville continues to work collaboratively with the NCAA in the investigation of the University’s men’s basketball program.  As a member of the NCAA, the University takes its responsibility for NCAA compliance seriously, and has cooperated with the NCAA in an effort to close this difficult chapter as soon as possible consistent with NCAA enforcement procedures.  Under NCAA rules, the University is not able to discuss the investigation or the facts developed to date, but looks forward to doing so at the conclusion of the NCAA enforcement process.  Continue reading This Week in Louisville Sports
