Armed Robbery at Ermine Double Kwik in Whitesburg

(Whitesburg, KY) – The Ermine Double Kwik Convenient Mart in Whitesburg was the apparent victim of an armed robbery early Wednesday morning.  Officers with Kentucky State Police Post 13 and Whitesburg Police Department responded to the scene around 2:23 a.m., where they contacted employees who were working at the time of the incident.


Investigators were advised that a male subject entered the store armed with a long club, and demanded money.  The employees complied with the perpetrator, giving him cash from the register.  The male subject fled the store on foot with the money obtained, and headed north on US 119.  The robber is described as being a male subject, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 180 to 200 pounds.  He was last seen wearing a black jacket with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath, blue jeans with holes in them, and brown work boots.  He was also wearing a dark blue bandana, black work gloves, and had a yellow cloth covering his face.  Video surveillance of the robbery was also viewed at the store by officers.


Officers were not able to locate the individual in the immediate area of the Double Kwik, and there is no current information to assist with his identification.  If anyone has information that might aid in this investigation, they are urged to contact KSP Post 13 in Hazard at 606-435-6069.  This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Michael Burton.
